The theme was a cross-channel car ferry from the 1960s.
The ship was equipped with rotating radar aerial and had an animated sweep on the radar display. Note what the crewman could see through his binoculars.
To go with the bulging boot load is a window sticker saying 'nothing to declare'
The rosette on the engine was an award for 'Best Engine Bay' - winner Claire Serrell.
